The Beautifully Broken newsletter keeps chugging along, and lately, I’ve been trying to think of ways to earn a little more income. I used to have a premium version of this newsletter, but I just didn’t feel like I was offering enough value and shut it down.
Now I have the one newsletter, with a promise to three of you who subscribed to the premium newsletter to give you lifetime access for free on my next project, and I have been thinking about offering a paid version to Beautifull Broken again.
But, I didn’t want to just give access to more of what I am already doing, I wanted it to be something completely different, but worthwhile and packed with enough punch that someone would be willing to spend $5 to $10 a month to get.
I don’t kid myself that I am interesting enough that I could just write more about me and my writing career, but I do have something else of value to offer.
I have lived my entire life with a severe mental illness, and I have learned many ways to not only battle the demons but come to terms with my mind and what it does to me. I am not perfect, but I’ve come a long way in the past few years, and I’d like to share it with my subscribers.
I am thinking about calling it “How to Be Beautifully Broken” and would be offered twice a week.
Here is how you can help:
If you had an extra $10 a month, what topics could I offer to convince you this newsletter is worth it? On the subject of mental health, what do you want to know most about?
What can I do to make my free newsletter better? What would you like to know, both about me and about life in general?
What do you think of what I send you each week? Am I meeting your expectations?
My goal with the BB newsletter was to check in with you each week and share a little of what is going on in my world. It is meant to be a short interruption to your day, and I hope what I write gives you something to think about.
If I had a paid newsletter, I would get more into details and take deep-dives into topics as I do on Medium. I would try to capture your attention for a while. The free newsletter would be a place for me to share my work and life, and the paid newsletter would be advice from my experience and learnings throughout the years.
What do you think?
While You Are Thinking
While you ponder my questions, maybe you want to read a story I wrote this week that is causing a little stir. You can also tell me what you think about this essay:
I look forward to hearing from you!
